That key is called ASSOCIATION.

By building imaginary links that call to mind the person thing or circumstance we are wanting to remember-we discover associating one with the other-linking-will greatly help us recall.

This principle is at the back of all memory training methods.Virtually anyone,given they have regular brain function,can greatly expand their power of recall using mnemonic methods.

The imagination,as you can see-plays an important role too.The more colourful and vivid you make your links,the easier and more permanent will be the association.

There are many "gimmics" out on the world wide web to assist you in this--e-books,software programmes,courses etc. Some are junk,but some are good to excellent.

We all know that repetition helps us remember. For example,if we want to remember someones name at first introduction,repeating that name several times helps it to "stick". Most of our early learning in base subjects like math for instance,is through repetition.

There are countless simple ways the experts suggest we can use to improve our memories,and i will mention a few:

Take a selection of 12-15 objects,place on a table and study them for about 60 seconds or so. Now,cover them over with a cloth,and write down everyone you can recall. Score yourself. "Rinse and repeat" gradually increasing the number of items (fresh ones) you can remember.

The old knot in the handkerchief routine is a favourite. Who has not tried that at some time? The reason why is simple--it works! You see the knot,association with the thing you need to remember kicks in,and you get a picture flash up in your imagination,and the "ah ha "! moment arrives.

You see how vital our imagination is? What a wonderful tool. We really could not do without it.

Suppose you need to remember to feed your canary before you go out for the day.All you need do is see an image of yourself stumbling over an enormous box of bird seed which is blocking your entrance to your front door. Make your image as large, as colourful, as silly as you can.

That way,I guarantee you wont forget.
Another trick,the most used of all possibly,is write it down on a piece of paper and pin it somewhere prominent

The guy who invented the yellow sticky notelets became a multi-millionaire!

There are a multitude of ways to help you remember. The good news is that the more you practice remembering the easier it becomes. It is fun too.

For more information here is a great resource and free training: Click Here!

Did You Get a Good Nights Sleep?

Here is a fascinating article by Martin Mak on an aspect of memory that is seldom discussed. It is enough to make you lose sleep! LOL!
"It is a well-known fact that a restful night's sleep is vital to a
healthy mind and memory. Disrupted sleep or insomnia can affect
our brain neural recall so much that you can even forget your
password to your computer, even if you've been keying it daily.

A lack of sleep appears to disrupt the functioning of the
hippocampus, an area of the brain that forms new memories.

The latest of the medical journal Nature Neuroscience reported on
Harvard Medical School investigators who recruited 28 volunteers
who were either randomly deprived of sleep for two days and a night
or who were allowed to sleep normally.

They looked at and tried to remember a large set of pictures while
a scanner screened them, mapping their blood flow, and hence
cerebral activity.

The subjects were then allowed two full nights of sleep before a
second test in which they had to spot the original slides in a
batch that included new pictures.

The sleep-deprived group did worse in the first test than those who
had slept. But in the second test, those who had been
sleep-deprived did much better than those who had earlier slept.

The scanner showed that in the first test, hippocampus activity
among the sleep-deprived was far lower.

Previous research had found that sleep after learning is vital for
consolidating memory, but hard evidence has, until now, been
lacking as to the effects of lack of sleep before a memory is
created.

If you're having trouble falling asleep at night, head to the
kitchen and reach for some kiwifruit. A study by Taipei Medical
University has found that eating two kiwifruits an hour before
going to bed can improve your sleep quality by as much as 40
percent.

Professor Jen-Fang Liu of the university's School of Nutrition and
Health Science studied the sleep pattern of 29 subjects with
diagnosed sleeping difficulties over four weeks. She found that
the kiwifruit diet decreased Sleep Onset Latency (SOL) by an
average of 38.7 percent. SOL is the time it takes a person to fall
asleep after going to bed. The participants also reported waking
up less during the night.

And here's a handy tip; If you find it a hassle to peel the
kiwifruit, simply cut it in half and scoop the contents out with a
spoon.

To learn more ways to boost brain functions for a better memory,
click here > http://mightymemoryforyou.blogspot.com
Sweet dreams!

Learn the Secret of the Ancient Greek Sages...The Memory Masters

Do You Want an Amazing Memory? Learn the Secret of the Ancient Greek Sages

It is well known that the human brain has an intrinsic ability to expand bits and pieces of information into sound and practical knowledge. The ancient Greek sages used this fact, to help them memorise all sorts of information, and supercharge their learning ability and power of recall.

Many memory techniques use the power of association, through visualising images in nature. The Chinese people are very adept at this and are known for their powers of observation.

It is relatively simple to use the principles of association and visualisation to expand hugely your powers of memory.

You see, our imagination has the ability to replace any missing information in our perception of things, by drawing from the storehouse of the subconscious mind. For example, even when we do not know all of the important details of a situation, we will often make decisions, which can turn out to be good ones. The reason for this is that the brain has the ability to fill in those gaps in the whole picture.

The next time, then, that you feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information, just remember, you do not have to know every detail to be able to make a credible decision.

Human psychology is a fascinating subject, and has a very practical aspect too.

It will teach you how to improve your memory skills, and how to enhance your ability to master new skills. A trained memory is a marvellous asset in life. Some of the things that you can learn about memory training are, forgive the pun, mind boggling!

For more information, you will probably want to look at the mighty memory system. Its a complete, detailed system to boost your brains' performance, covering many aspects of the subject in a simple, entertaining, and yes, memorable way.

Well worth checking out! You can visit the Mighty Memory website by clicking on the link below, or if it is not working, simply copy & paste the url into your browser.

You can find out more from Ken at http://mightymemoryforyou.blogspot.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kenneth_Eden
http://EzineArticles.com/?Do-You-Want-an-Amazing-Memory?-Learn-the-Secret-of-the-Ancient-Greek-Sages&id=3184264

All  About Your Biological Clock

How your biological clock influences your mental and physical powers.

There is a rhythm of life, as the song goes, the seasons follow one another, the sun rises and sets every day, birds fly south in the winter, and we all grow old with time!

Human beings are exactly the same as the rest of nature. Our body and brain follow a definite rhythm. Because of this, thinking ability and mental capacity to remember and to concentrate are affected.

Scientists have discovered, that we have a biological clock. It is a timepiece, a clock, in the section of the brain that is called the hypothalamus.
Our nervous system is controlled through hormones by this area of the brain.

The experts are not really sure how this works. We do know that it is influenced by noise, our environment and a hormone called melatonin, otherwise known as the sleeping hormone.

One of the major factors that affect our biological clock is light, especially the sun. Because our eyes are light-sensitive, even a sudden bright light can produce certain chemicals in the body, and these chemicals regulate our biological clock daily.

There are certain time periods, it has been discovered, that are peak times for various activities.

For example, between the hours of six -- 8 am. most men experience a high level of hormones, sex hormones, making this a good time for sex!

Between nine and 12 pm the human brain is in its best mode for making decisions.
Around 3 pm the body experiences, less sensitivity to pain.( That is probably a good time to visit the dentist if you need to!)

Between the hours of 1am-3am your mental and physical prowess are low and indicate that this is the best time for your body to sleep.
This is also a time when the majority of accidents happen in the house on the road, or in the shop or factory.

Having an awareness of your body's bio rhythm, will assist you in coping with stress.
Always schedule, intense mental activity when your brain and body are at peak time.
You will improve your memory and concentration, and keep yourself healthy mentally and physically, if you remember these points.

Dont forget to remember!

Supercharge Your Reading Massively with Top Training Course

It may seem absolutely incredible to read an entire book in only a few minutes,but guess what-It is possible!

The awesome power of speed reading makes it not only possible,but,if you really work at it...inevitable. It has much to do with technique.

The average person can read about 250 words per minute. Some memory training courses,(becoming increasingly popular in these days of high intensity study) claim that this "photo-reading" method can increase students reading capability up to over 20,000 words per minute! Think of the amount of books you could read in a day!

One expert says: "You can also increase your reading speed 10 to 40 times without taking a speed-reading course. You will notice a vast improvement if you don’t say each word in your mind as you read. This makes your brain work harder, preventing it from doing other things.

You can avoid this in the following way; move your middle finger along the lines and follow the finger with your eyes. Some techniques teach you to move your middle finger in a reverse “S” shape, like a fish swimming or a rattlesnake moving across the sands of the desert. It certainly takes practice as we’ve been trained since we were young to always say the words out loud. Chances are, this was how we were taught how to read.

Methods such as special imaginative techniques are often employed. The imagination is a powerful much underated mental tool.
Other tips are;always read the back cover of a book first. This will give some insight into what you will discover within.

When you skim through the chapter titles,you will begin to mentally formulate questions about the subject material,which will be a giant step forward in eventually being able to recall the gist of the entire book.

There are so many ways the human mind learns. One thing for sure is that the old saying that we only use ten percent of our mental capability is absolutely true. My own grandson,a student of mnemonics (the art of recall) at age 13 could memorise 14 digit numbers forwards and backwards and retain them for several weeks in his short term memory!

For more information on how to amaze yourself and your friends with cool memory tricks,for fun,and more seriously,for regular study to help you reach top bar in exams,you might like to take a peek at the Mighty Memory system. The more sensory pathways you open up, the more extensive and exact your perception will become. This has been acknowledged by scientists in numerous studies. Students can memorize new material twice as well if it is presented in a visual form – for instance, as a film or video – and not just by merely listening to a lecture. This is because visual cues from the eyes play an important part in the learning process.

The best known method for focusing our thoughts towards what is important and training our perception is Meditation. Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years by Buddhist monks for instance for spirituality and to open up the mind to new knowledge. Zen Buddhism is about mastering the art of Meditation to achieve remarkable things in life. Demonstrations have been performed by a skilled archer and meditator with his eyes blindfolded and shooting an arrow so accurately that it will put out a burning candle hundreds of paces away. He performs this feat by accomplishing the highest concentration and entering a state of deepest calm.

In western psychology, the phenomenon of controlled attention is also useful. Anyone who wish to train or improve his or her memory must begin by controlling perception. For instance, if you find that you keep forgetting someone’s name, it’s likely that you are too easily distracted and do not place enough emphasis or importance to the person’s name when you are introduced. A deeper focus on the situation will improve your memory. A quick tip is to look at the person’s face, without staring.

With a quick sweep of your eyes, notice what the person is wearing, the color of his or her eyes, hair, skin. Take an interest in that person, ask about where she was born, what are the person’s hobbies, children, pets etc. Ask the person how her name is spelt. If there is only one way to spell ‘Tom’, the more relevant question is to ask how to spell his last name.

Take notice of it and make interesting associations with it and tie it in with what the person is wearing or the person’s physical attributes. Is he or she tall or short, fat or slender? Does he or she have freckles or a tan?

Your creativity is also influenced by how intensely you deal with the job at hand. If you need a new idea urgently – for example, an anniversary gift for a spouse, you perhaps need to let yourself be inspired by the world around you.

We often do not take the time to see what is around us. The flash of inspiration you need will come to mind if you allow your attention to move freely, embracing all possibilities, even the ones you previously disregard. So open up your senses, see to appreciate, smell new scents, listen with intent and start to feel, both physically and emotionally. Start living and be alive and you’ll find your memory, concentration and creativity will start to blossom.

For more information on how to improve your memory, concentration and creativity , you'll probably want to take a look at the Mighty Memory System. Master Memory you can get by clicking the link on this site;

The memory devices we are looking at help to create ways of putting information together so it makes it much easier for us to remember it.

1. Grouping : If you need to remember large groups of numbers or items, then split them into much smaller units.For example, if you need a very long number, say your social security number, which may be 569724981, then divide it up as follows: 569 724981.

2. Classify information according to type: For example, why not arrange all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays into logical groups made up asfollows: - Comedy, history and tragedies?

3. Rhyming Use the methods for producing poetry such as rhyming, rhythm and alliteration. For example, ifyou want to remember what happened to all of Henry VIII’s wives then you could do the following:- Died, Beheaded, Died Died, Beheaded,Died, Beheaded, Survived .

4. Grammatical Rules This is, for example, relating to such items as “I” before “E” except after “C”

5. Spelling : Always take the first letter or syllables in order to form a new word which spells out the information that you want to remember.So if you are looking to remember the 5 great lakes in the US, for a geography exam, then you could say H.O.M.E.S., which then tells you that they areHuron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie and Superior.

6. Narration This is a good imaginative process, as it helps you to create a sentence, story, cartoon or visualpicture in your mind in order for you to remember some vital information.

7. Mapping Using structure helps to produce a diagrammatic representation of the relationship found between major ideas, sub categories and all the supporting detail and information that you need to remember. This is especially effective for students when studying for exams and studying text books. What they should do is connect a list of unrelated items by using either exaggerated, stupid or absurd associations.

This is a great way, for example, for remembering the planets as follows:-

The MERCURY thermometer was in the mouth of VENUS.Her navel was a huge EARTH. On the other side of her mouth was a MARS candy bar. While the fingers on her hand and wrist spelled out JUPITER and the 6rings of SATURN were spinning around her head, while above, 7 rain drops from URANUS were falling, and these gradually became 8 musical notes forNEPTUNE. But what is truly amazing is that Venus is standing on PLUTO the dog, whose tail happens to look like the number 9.

8. Placement: Place units of information that you need to remember in terms of their location or in chronological order.

9. Experiencing Using this device, you will either act out, or go through the motions in order to get a feel for an idea.

10. Write out the word or information that you need to remember, and then, using your index finger, go over and trace the shape of the word and visualize it in your mind. Simple and fun!

My Story   using memory techniques

Hi,

My name's Dan. I' m a student. This is my testimony:

Having just finished my A-level exams in maths,physics and psychology,I have to say I owe a lot to the techniques of mnemonics, ( a posh word for memory improvement methods).

A couple of years back,I read a book on memory 'tricks' and how to use them in order to recall long lists of information.

Back then, I didn't really consider myself to have a great memory,and I certainly say I was particularly intelligent either.

Even so, the basic, simple, seemingly pointless exercises I learnt from this small book, methods which beforehand I knew very little about, gave me ,amazingly,considerable help with every exam I have taken since.

I remember,for example in my History GSCE, I found it hard to readily recall the dates and order of events when studying the development of medicine through time.

I used a particular technique that links numbers with rhyming objects such as 1=bun, 2= shoe,3=tree and so on. (read this blog for info.on that method) and these were linked to a certain date and event.

Suddenly,I found it difficult to forget the information I needed for my exam. It was so easy!

Having been predicted with a B for History, I went into the exam and included every date I had memorised and came out with A* overall!! I was astonished.

I've carried on using these mnemonics to memorise the 100 + names and the studies needed for my psychology A-level exam and it has worked a treat!

Last year, a score of 100% and 95% (I had an off day.lol!) were achieved in two of these exams.

As I said,I don't consider myself gifted in these subjects as they are very content based ,and its a case of you either "know it " or you don't.

Therefore, techniques like mnemonics have proven, to me at least, to be a very powerful tool

when having to recall large amounts of information in whatever situation you need to. I will
continue to adopt these fantastic methods when studying Engineering at University, as they will be extremely helpful when memorising formula needed for calculations!

I recommend the knowledge of these methods to anyone who wishes to pursue top marks with little effort in all subjects at any level! Of course they can also be used for other more practical things such as learning a shopping list or phone number,credit cards, bank account pin etc!

Finally, I would like to thank Ken for creating this concise blog, so that others like myself can learn the various memory techniques developed and then hopefully apply them to everyday circumstances.

It's all about ASSOCIATION-ASSOCIATION-ASSOCIATION

Hi Friends,

Here`s another signpost on your way to a better memory and all the goodies that can stem from it. Hope you like it. It's all about association.

When I was studying music--singing and guitar, some years ago, I found that old chestnut of an

aide memoire-Every Good Boy Deserves Favour to be a pretty useful mnemonic for remembering the notes of the treble cleff ie; E. G. B. D. F and, the bass cleff- Face F.A.C.E

As the meercat says "simple"! So here we can see the principle of association at it's best,namely If you associate any new piece of information with something you already know,

YOU WILL REMEMBER IT.

Let me give you an example of this. Most of my fellow Englishmen (and women) ASSOCIATE the geographical map of the British Isles with a fellow wearing a funny hat and riding a bike!

Yes,I know...we are eccentric! However strange it sounds--it works. Any self respecting British

citizen can easily draw a good representation of a map of his/her own country because of that image. ITS ALL ABOUT ASSOCIATION.

I know I'm repeating myself, but Repetition is also a memory aid.

You see,the human mind will always seek to discern pattern in anything.It's just the way we're

wired.

I recall, as a boy,lying on soft green summer grass near to my home, looking up at an August

sky,watching massive snowy white cumulous clouds, drifting lazily across the skyscape.

I swear I could discern faces, animals, and huge building- like towers in those shifting shapes.

Incidentally, did your imagination' kick- in 'reading the above? Good! Thats what memory

training is all about.....association,repetition-imagination.

See you later.

STORYLINES loads of fun--use your imagination!

STORY LINES........think "soap opera"!

Now we use the link system to 'clip' together like interlinked paper clips or a daisy chain, one item to the next .

AN EXAMPLE:

Suppose you want to remember 10 items,lets say a trip to the local supermarket .The items are

1) Newspaper 2) Bag of peanuts 3) Box of drawing pins 4) Carton of milk 5) Box of cornflakes

6) Tin of soup 7) Bag of flour ) Dozen eggs 9)Bottle of shampoo 10) Pack of frozen peas

This is how I would suggest you memorise the items---and remember the more ridiculous the image , the MORE MEMORABLE. This is the key to a great memory. (hear the sizzle!)

9 Verbal/ Vine Picture/Pipe

Imagine a vast vineyard with lots of bottles of green shampoo replacing the clusters of grapes,or, see your old smokers pipe filled with shampoo instead of tobacco,and bubbles spilling out the top!

10) Verbal/Hen Picture/Baseball & Bat

See a big fat old Hen pecking open and eating your bag of frozen peas, or, imagine lobbing a pack of frozen peas towards the batsman instead of balls in a game.

Keep practicing. I guarantee that you`ll be amazed at how using this simple method will escalate your ability to remember. It might seem like hard work,but it pays off in spades!

Soon, you will find your imaginative skill automatically "kicking-in"everytime you decide you want to recall a thing--just think how incredibly helpful that will be when,for example you're sitting an exam.! As mentioned earlier,Harry Lorayne jumped from mediocre to magnificent rapidly through the use of such techniques as you're learning here,simple and seemingly crazy as they are.

So,this is just the start. There is much much more to share,and so keep logging in.

As well as methods and guest articles I`ll be reviewing products and mnemonic links from others.

Later,

Ken

THE SYSTEMS

                                         "OK...SO HOW DO I DO IT...?"

Using the memory systems in a practical way in everyday life:

YOU can use these systems to--AMAZE YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY by remembering :

Birthdays****Phone numbers ****Addresses ****Prices****Credit Cards****Bank Accounts etc.

For example-----ARE YOU A STUDENT WANTING TO ACHIEVE TOP GRADES?

When famous memory expert Harry Lorayne was a student, he states that although he didn't even complete his first year of high school,had only average IQ and 'so-so' natural memory, he still achieved top grades. The reason ? He applied the same memory techniques to his schoolwork that I`m going to teach you through this Blog , so, YOU CAN DO THE SAME!

Master Memory Number System:

This one is a simple but very effective method that you can expand easily up to any number you wish by adding extra elements to the images you construct such as using COLOURS, ICE, etc-be imaginative....that's the "name of the game" with mnemonics.

If you're mostly verbal use this;

One =  bun

two =   shoe

three =tree

four =  door

five =   hive

six =   sticks

seven=heaven

eight = gate

nine =  vine

ten=     hen

The important thing is to drill these 10 rhyming words into your memory,because these are your pegs.   You should find it easy to do. If you do have difficulty, it could be you are a more visually inclined person,so this next/alternative system would be right up your street;

See in your minds eye,as clearly and sharply as you can the following images,and remember, the crazier they are,the more memorable they will be. Let your imagination have free rein.

One  =   Pen

Two  =   Swan

Three =Bow (long bow--think Robin Hood)

Four  = Sail Boat

Five =   Fish Hook

Six =     Golf club

Seven =Edge of cliff

Eight =  Hour-glass

Nine =   Pipe (smokers)

Ten = Baseball bat & ball

Right......have you downloaded these into your sub-conscious? Good- now we can have fun!

The "storylines" on the next blog page are simply suggestions of how you can use these to recall easily ANY items you want. Handy if you are bereft of pen and paper on your shopping spree,and many other scenarios.

RHYMING

Method#3

Songwriters and poets base their art on this mnemonic principle. You will surely have noticed how very much easier it is memorise songs when you have words that rhyme- not to mention of course, the power of tempo and melody--but this 'magic 'of music we'll discuss at another time.

Suffice to say,if you have the creative ability to rhyme, you're blessed,for it will help you enormously in your quest for a MASTER MEMORY.

STORYTELLING

Method#4

This one is powerful! Using stories is actually the foundation of mnemonics and the master memory system.

It will elevate you above the mundane, and wether you believe you've been blessed with a strong visual ability or not--it will pay you in spades to exercise your imaginitive faculty as often as you possibly can.

Personally, I find that listening to a play on radio or audio books is an excellent way to strengthen my jaded memory and is the most enjoyable mnemonic system of them all.

So, my advice is; pull up your favourite easy chair ,close your eyes and allow yourself to be drawn into the story. It'll work wonders and you'll soon find your ability to memorise will be greatly enhanced. Whats more--it's fun!

All great teachers know the truth of this;for example Jesus taught in parables/stories using familiar objects from nature. Stories using dynamic images-Wind,Fire,Rain Seeds & Flowers-the sermon on the mount is a typical example of this genre.

He knew his hearers would more easily recall ,understand and apply his teachings through the use of evocative images.

THE BASIC MNEMONIC PRINCIPLES

Repetition.

Method #1

This is perhaps the simplest,and most widely used tool in the mnemonic box. We all used this method to learn our

math tables etc at our Mother's knee. Yes, Iknow it also pretty boring too!

Actors, Politicians and other public speakers utilise this method all the time to help them remember their dialogue/speeches.

The actor will read a line of dialogue/prose or whatever by repeating it over and over again until it eventually "sets"--and then go to the next line and

so on until they "get it",and on to the end.

                                                                CONCENTRATION

Concentration is vital . The better you can concentrate the attention easier it becomes to recall.

You'll find that you dont really ever forget anything........you just never concentrated your attention long enough to remember in the first place!

A test (mainly for men!); Without looking at her,what is your wife wearing at the moment? No peeking now!

On a scale of 1--10, 1 being "no idea" and 10 being a fully accurate description, how did you score? OK , guys thats how poor most of us are!

Womenkind are better--why? The Good Lord seems to have endowed them with superior intelligence/concentrative ability.

How do I know ? My wife told me!

The image of a hammer knocking a nail in a block of wood is a good example of this mnemonic principle of REPETITION. With each blow the nail sinks deeper until it's buried into the wood.

The image of a hammer knocking a nail in a block of wood is a good example of this mnemonic principle of REPETITION. It contains over 100 billion neurons,and second by second millions of messages transmitted from various sources (internally and externally) are received ,sorted then sent to the body.

Its storage capacity would make your latest state of the art laptop computer look like a 1970`s battery calculator!

Science does know quite a lot about the human brain,but despite that, it remains a mystery. It is so complex that no machine comes even close to emulating it,and yet for all that,it is really quite fragile and prone to all kinds of problems--malfunctions so to speak.

Here are just some of these problems and a few things you can do to put things right:

CRASH THE ASH!

Smoking can seriously affect your brains functioning because it limits the oxygen and blood flow to your brain.

CUT THE PUB TIME.

We all like the odd tiple,but need to remember (pun intended) that alcohol is a drug and damages the bodies ability to repair itself,causing all kinds of problems, so keep well away from exercising your right arm too much down at the local. Cheers.

CHURCHILLS SECRET.

I dont want to get all "techie" on you, but a new study has shown that STRESS activates an enzyme called kinase c protein that has a detrimental effect on the memory---which explains why ,when you're giving a speech (as I have discovered to my cost) the mind tends to go "blank"!

The answer? Winston Churchill knew the secret. He said "never stand when you can sit, and never sit when you can lie down". text-decoration: none; ">Memorization techniques, tips and advices can be found everywhere. Probably there are just so many things you’ve already read off from books, magazines and of course the Internet but then there is always some methods that apply better for you which may not work for others.

Whichever the case, your imagination plays a big part in getting your memorization tasks done for you. Visual learners benefit greatly from using memorization techniques that pertains to imagination and creativity. Since visual learners can manage to create and rely on a mental image that they retain in the brain, it is strongly encouraged for them to stick to this side of their imagination.

It’s even better for visual learners to create a wild or silly scenario or a movie. It doesn’t have to be perfect, even silly or hilarious ideas are accepted for this kind of purpose. The purpose for one to memorize effectively has got something to do with the approach he uses; so even if it’s just a series of spontaneous mental images, as long as it stirs the imagination amusingly, it’s fine. When you already have a sequence of mental images, then you can start playing it back and forth in your mind until you familiarize yourself with its details and sequence.

If visual learners can create a short movie, so they can also make use of stories. These are still mental stories that can be created from words you’re not familiar with. This is also applicable for memorizing words; an example would be words in a list or even words from a poem.

For these types of instances, a mnemonic approach called the journey system would be applicable. Let’s say you have several items needed in a list, let’s use several items you have in your own room since it’s the place in your heart closest to you (assuming it is).

Pretend the items below are the things you need:
Glass jars, thread, comb, paintbrushes, and a masscara

Upon getting up in the morning, you look at your bedroom window and a number of glass jars hangs as curtains and then you try to fix your blanket which is made of thread. Next, you face your bathroom mirror and chooses from a hundred selection of comb displayed on the wall. As you wash your face, you turn the handle of your faucet which is made of paintbrush. Lastly, just before you go out of your room, you pick up your brush your teeth with toothbrush that looks just like a mascara.

Shareen Aguilar

MASTER MEMORY the magic of mnemonics for your success!

Hi!
